Job Announcement: Health Services Research Investigator - PhD (or equivalent)

The VA health care system welcomes interest from dynamic, academically-oriented health services research investigators in becoming candidates to join our Health Services Research and Development (HSR&D) Center of Innovation, which is based at the VA Boston Healthcare System, and at the Bedford VA Healthcare System. The mission of CHOIR– Center for Healthcare Organization and Implementation Research– is to conduct health services, organization and implementation research that promotes Veteran-centered high-quality health care, identifying best practices and working with operational and policy leaders within VA to implement findings and improve clinical care. CHOIR supports an extensive portfolio of funded research projects and programs, with a total annual budget of over $14 million. CHOIR investigators are highly productive academically and contribute to a large, vibrant pre- and post-doctoral research training program for MD and PhD researchers.

Potential candidates will be PhD (or equivalent) investigators with scholarly expertise in health services research and/or one or more of its many constituent fields, such as health policy, psychology, anthropology, sociology, statistics, economics, and related areas. Successful candidates will be those ultimately able to establish a scientific leadership role with independent peer-reviewed funding as a principal investigator. Alignment with or extension of CHOIR’s research mission and focus is an asset. Information on the CHOIR research and training portfolios can be found at: http://www.choir.research.va.gov/.

Appointment of research investigators is typically made on a full-time basis at either CHOIR’s VA Boston or VA Bedford campus. Candidates should be eligible for appropriate faculty academic appointment at one of CHOIR’s academically affiliated universities.
