Career Development
Opportunities for professional development and training for CHOIR researchers at various career levels abound and are fully integrated into the Center’s daily work. Activities open to all CHOIR research staff include:• Weekly CHOIR Research Conference

Additional training activities are available through our academic partners including Boston University and University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Mentorship
Many CHOIR investigators serve as mentors to junior researchers and models as leaders in academia and health services research. CHOIR core investigators are leaders of HSR&D, other VA and non-VA executive committees, boards, and expert panels. They chair steering committees of HSR&D centers, are journal editors or members of journal editorial boards, and have leadership roles in academic societies. In addition, many CHOIR investigators contribute their expertise in national policy making and advisory boards outside of VA. Gatherings for mentoring our fellows are open to all staff and put investigators at every career level in conversation with health services research experts. These include:• Monthly Brown Bag Lunch series, which is used to orient fellows to VA health services and discuss common interests and needs in building an academic career

• Monthly Fellows' Report to present research-in-progress in a small group setting
